join us as a
companion on the journey
Dear Friends,
This year, St. Andrew Nativity School celebrates a milestone that fills our community with deep gratitude: 25 years of journeying together as companions in mission.
Rooted in the Ignatian tradition, “companion” comes from cum panis, or “with bread.” It reflects the practice of breaking bread, accompanying one another, and offering steadfast support, which is exactly what this community has shown our students and graduates for 25 years.
Your support has helped Nativity grow in depth and reach. Today, we serve 85 sixth-, seventh-, and eighth-graders who qualify for the federal free and reduced-priced meals program, and we accompany more than 470 alumni through our Graduate Support Program as they navigate high school, college, and beyond. Nativity has strengthened academics, expanded mental-health support, and added enrichment opportunities ranging from cooking and coding to skateboarding and service club, all of which broaden what is possible for our scholars.
Nativity’s mission has grown, and so have the costs of fulfilling our promise to families. As a tuition-free Jesuit, Catholic school without any public or institutional funding, Nativity relies entirely on individual gifts and grants to sustain our $3 million operating budget.
Nativity scholars meet each opportunity with purpose and joy. They commit to more than 45 hours of learning each week and a three-week summer session, supported by rigorous academics, data-informed instruction, and individualized care. Their days are full, with music and connection at lunchtime and countless moments of academic growth and student leadership as they lift one another up and live what it means to be people for and with others in a community rooted in love and possibility.
This spirit reflects the heart of our mission: believing in the goodness and gifts of our young people and walking alongside them as they grow in mind, body, and spirit.
This anniversary invites all of us to reflect on the extraordinary impact this collective effort has made. Please watch the video, linked above, honoring our history, which serves as a testament to what unfolds when a young person feels seen, known, and loved.
Looking ahead, our work continues with the same commitment that has guided us from the beginning, and with a renewed sense of purpose. In honor of our 25th anniversary, and as the cost of sustaining what makes Nativity exceptional rises, we ask you to consider giving a bit more this year.
Your support ensures that every scholar who walks through our doors receives the education, opportunities, and steadfast care they deserve.
Thank you for walking with us, for your belief in our mission, your commitment to our young people, and your role in shaping the next chapter of Nativity.
With gratitude,
Bri Hennessy, President, Director of Mission
Joseph Aguilera, Principal
