Counseling

Many of the students who attend St. Andrew Nativity School come from difficult family and home circumstances. In an effort to support these students, Nativity offers a full counseling program. The school counselor is a graduate of Nativity and holds a master’s degree in social work.

Counseling during covid-19

This year, counseling has looked a bit different as we have all been working through COVID-19. To meet with students, the counselor offers drop in hours on Mondays from 9am-10am and Wednesdays from 1pm-2pm. Students can access this in the Google Classroom, “Counselor Corner.”

2020-2021 Curriculum

To get a better understanding of students’ needs, Ms. West began the school year with a brief needs assessment that students completed, ranking the level of importance for certain counseling topics as well as providing a general overview of their feelings about school during the pandemic. From those results, she was able to create a counseling curriculum for this school year that closely follows the desires and needs of students. These lessons happen during Advisory, Limited In Person Instruction (LIPI), as well as in individual counseling sessions.

Areas of Interest that were derived from the Needs Assessment:
